Three Weeks

B"H

How Can We Know?

Tisha B'Av, the 9th of Av, ends the three week period of mourning for the destruction of the two Holy Temples in Jerusalem.  Josephus gives us an eye witness account which is so excruciating we cannot fathom the despair of our people in that time.  Reading about the destruction is heart-wrenching.  We even cry.  But there is no connection between the reading of it and the living of it.

Life is more dimensional than the page.  A regular day is like that, so, how much more is a day of exceptional challenges.  We must breathe and be mindful of the gift of breath which is the spark of the Divine, the Eyn Sof (the Infinity of G-d).  The breath governs our moods and guides our emotions.  The breath allows us to grow deep, deep roots to hold us grounded so we may weather the storms of life.

There is so much more in us than our finite tools of perception allow us to acknowledge.  Just know that G-d grants us that spark to ignite our lives on paths of healing and elevation of soul.

The job of healing is ours.
